See With Style: FAQs About Designer Eyewear

Posted on

Do you need new glasses? Are you ready to upgrade your old, worn, or plain glasses for designer eyewear? Before you buy a new pair, take a look at what you need to know about eyewear, personal style, and designer options.

Where Can You Buy Designer Glasses?

Whether you need bifocals, trifocals, single-vision glasses, or prescription sunglasses, start your search for your new pair of frames at a luxury eyewear store. While you could find a pair of glasses online, an in-person optician or optical retailer will have the actual eyewear for you to try on. This allows you to view the glasses and make sure they fit your face size and shape correctly. A pair that seems perfect in a picture might look different in real life.

Should You Choose Colorful or Neutral Glasses?

Designer frames are available in a wide variety of hues. These include everything from hot pink and bold blue to muted tans and tortoiseshell tones. The decision to choose a dramatic color over a neutral option depends on a few factors. Your skin tone and hair and eye color can impact this choice—but don't have to. A redhead doesn't have to choose red glasses. Likewise, someone with cool-toned skin won't have to select a cool blue or gray frame.

Think about how the designer frame's color fits your personality and whether it will coordinate with your existing fashion style. If you usually wear bright colors, an equally bold pair of glasses will match your wardrobe. But if you have a more subdued sense of style or dress conservatively for work, consider a natural or neutral-toned pair of glasses.

Which Shape Is the Best Option?

There's no universal answer to this question. Glasses come in shapes that range from near-perfect circles to boxy squares (and almost everything in between). Designer frames typically follow fashion trends. This means if oversized Jackie O glasses are in, you may find more large oval-style glasses than small John Lennon-like circle spectacles.

Even though trendy frames do have a luxe look, some fashion-forward eyewear won't necessarily fit or sit well on your face. If you're not sure whether you should select a classic frame or go with a dramatically styled pair of glasses, try the options on. Look for glasses that complement your face's shape. The frames shouldn't overpower your facial features or have the opposite effect.

Along with the aesthetics of shape choice, you need to think about how the frames affect your eyesight. Slim, narrow, or too-small frames may interfere with your vision. If you can't see through the lens area, continue searching for another frame shape.
